Ritual Dressing of Nature
An ephemeral installation in Dottie Harper Park, Burien Washington
Inspired by the craft of indigenous people of Africa, the South Pacific and minority tribes of Southeast Asia . Material compositions, color usage & patterns are applied to the trees of Dottie Harper Park adorning them in a ritualistic dressing.
Design elements draw from both structural and surface designs of the primitive cultures. Wrappings are reminiscent of straw bundles used in dwelling construction. The patterns created from these wrappings are representative of surface applications seen in both garments and building surfaces
